The accused were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in court presided by Justice Evelyn Anyadike on a 28 counts charge of N13.51bn fraud charge.
The request by the accused Counsel, Offiong Offiong (SAN) to hear his clients bail application was turned down as the Judge ordered the accused persons to remain in Kano State Prison till September 28- date for their next hearing.
This means that the Former Governor, his Sons and all those involved will spend the rest of the Ramadan and even the Sallah Celebration in Prison.
The accused persons are, Bamania Holdings Limited, Bamania Aluminum Limited, Bamania Company Nigeria Limited and Speeds International Limited
I know you go dey wonder why Kano State Prison. Anyways, EFCC prosecuting Counsel requested they should be stay there citing or siting (i no be lawyer kwa) that there facility in Abuja and Kano are filled up.
It will be recalled that accused was arrested on Tuesday on the grounds that the former Governor awarded contracts to those companies he and his sons had interest in while on sit (2007-2015)
